This years' Christmas tree came from a Christmas Tree Farm that borders our Grandparents home. Their long gravel drive is lined with rows and rows of these beautiful pine trees. The tree farm isn't in operation anymore so the once neatly groomed rows have grown a little wild, but it's still a beauty to behold. And this year- since the boys and I are living here while Thane is away- we were blessed to get to pick a tree of our own! I marked it with a red tie and Grandpa Kevin cut it down and brought it to us last weekend. He and Asher brought it in and we decorated it while watching a little of the classic Rudolph movie {hence the pink and blue elves}. This is Thane and I's favorite time of year together, so I have to admit that it was bittersweet to put it up. I can't help but wish he was here to enjoy it with us...sitting and quietly admiring it in the evening brings back so many warm memories together. Eleven Christmases have passed since we've known each other, praise God for the time He's given us! Even when it's spent in opposite parts of the world. Sometimes it's when I'm left wanting that I'm forced to practice perspective and remember His many acts of lovingkindness towards our family. In spite of Thane's absence, He is certainly crowning this year with goodness and proving Himself faithful. He always does.
